Hello. I recently severely dislocated my elbow playing soccer and was referred to a physical therapist. Does anyone have any experience with this type of injury? What works in rehab and, what doesn't?
As well as suggestions of specific physical therapy techniques or training of the PT I should look for?
Any other types of therapies helpful with this sort of injury? Thanks

Re: Dislocated Elbow and physical therapy???
Mon, March 30, 2009 - 8:55 PMHi there,
I responded to your e-mail directly but thought a general post might be more helpful. I have been a holistic PT for 16 years, and also have training in orthopedic manual therapy. I guess I am somewhat biased that not all PT is the same. Be selective. I would suggest someone trained in the joint kinematics and especially with gentle joint mobilization techniques, MFR/STM, and awareness of the peripherap nervous system and brachial plexus due to compensation risk. There are many good manual therapy programs perhaps do a search in your region. You might even search for someone specifically through the Ola Grimsby Institute. That is where I trained. Other programs are also good. Consider searching through the AAOMT for someone near by. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Best of luck with your healing. www.corehealingpt.com.
